FEATURES

INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGIES

A web-based professional development workshop designed to be facilitated by a lead with the flexibility of in-person or virtual delivery. The full project stretches beyond the whole-group, instructor-led, sit-and-get-style format that is all too common in the public education space. Each module presents a carefully curated selection of topical media paired with a range of strategic, evidence-based learning prompts.

To promote maximum retention and engagement, I integrated both the techniques and verbiage of Bloom's Taxonomy throughout the project. Additionally, Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences helped guide content selection and instructional activity development. Accordingly, the training features a variety of delivery methods--including audio, video, visuals, and text-based media--and utilizes a blend of whole-group, small-group, and self-directed exercises to cater to the broadest range of learners.

I've included suggestions for learning extension for each topic and built opportunities for reflection into the training's conditional navigation, as well.

VISUAL DESIGN

The sensitive but critical nature of the content was carefully considered during the visual design process and is reflected in the color scheme. Rather than incorporate potentially-triggering photographs, I elected to use icons. I also wanted the format of the slides to be clear and easy to navigate whether the audience was in-person, virtual, or some combination of both. A minimal, but visibly well-defined slide layout accomplished this objective.

The visual prototypes of each slide were developed in Canva and then uploaded to ThingLink where I added the hotlink beacons and strung the individual slides together into a cohesive presentation. The final product is web-based and easily accessible from any device with internet access.
